劍橋大學出版社成為第一家將分級的有聲書以 MP3 格式透過 iTunes 播放給使用者的出版社。

劍橋英語讀本（http://cambridge.hwatai.com.tw/serch_2_2.asp?series_id=43）提供了各式各樣的原創小說以滿足讀者的胃口。引人入勝的故事情節讓學生忍不住想要一看再看，聽了還想要再聽。

自從2007年12月開始，全球有67本的劍橋英語讀本成為有聲書，只要到 iTunes 或是 Audible.com 都可以下載。當中最熱門的有聲書是由 Allan Battersby 所寫的 East 43rd Street，在頭一個月就創下了32次下載的紀錄，接著在後的是 Richard MacAndrew 的 Logan's Choice，一共被下載了22次。

根據商業週刊（Business Week）報導，iPod領導了數位隨身播放器的市場。特別是亞洲市場的英語學習者，像是日本人逐漸開始改用MP3格式下載檔案隨時加強他們的英文聽力。為了在這般趨勢中得到優勢，劍橋ELT書籍成為了第一個將分等級的有聲書以MP3格式透過iTunes播放給使用者的出版社。

至於其他的iTunes下載，劍橋有聲書在技術上將會保護版權免於被濫用。這對劍橋大學出版社來說沒什麼風險，也不耗費成本，因為我們僅是將原本就存在的聲音檔交給 Audible.com，而其餘的他們會處理。接著，若有使用者透過我們的網頁連結到他們那，我們在 Audible網路收據上的版稅就會增加。 Audible是唯一一個提供 iTunes 有聲書的網站。

所有67本有聲書現在都能以電子書的方式購得，並且透過Mobi、Adobe Reader、Sony Reader和新的Amazon Kindle閱讀。我們現在不靠任何宣傳就已經賣出250本讀本，而且數量還不斷在增加當中。這意味著學習者現在可以購買電子書版和iTune版，透過他們的電腦就可以聽和閱讀。或是透過手機也可以，因為Mobi和Auduble在手機上也能使用。

數位商業研發團隊的這項創舉令人感到興奮，而他們往後將固定一年把大約六本讀本轉換為電子書和有聲書的版本。

Cambridge English Readers now on iTunes

The Press becomes the first publisher of graded audiobooks for English learners in MP3 format via iTunes.

Cambridge English Readers offer a diverse range of original fiction to suit every taste. With compelling storylines, students will want to read and listen to each title over and over again!

Since December 2007, 67 of the Cambridge English Readers have been made available globally as audiobooks, both on iTunes and Audible.com. The best seller is ‘East 43rd Street’ by Allan Battersby, with 32 downloads in the first month, followed by Richard MacAndrew’s ‘Logan's Choice’ (22 downloads).

According to Business Week, the iPod rules the digital portable audio player market, and learners of English (particularly in Asian markets, such as Japan) are increasingly turning to MP3 format downloadable audio to improve their listening skills while on the move. To take advantage of this trend, Cambridge ELT are the first publishers of graded audiobooks for English learners in MP3 format via iTunes.

As with other iTunes downloads, the Cambridge audiobooks will be technologically protected to prevent copyright abuse. This is a very low-risk venture for the Press, as there is zero set up cost (we simply send the existing audio files to Audible.com and they do the rest). We then receive a royalty on Audible's net receipts, with an extra increment if customers link through from our site to theirs. Audible are the exclusive supplier of audiobooks to iTunes.

All 67 are already available as eBooks for sale in Mobi, Adobe Reader and Sony Reader formats, as well as being available on the new Amazon Kindle. We have sold 250 copies so far without any marketing – and sales are accelerating. What this means is that a learner can now buy the eBook version and the iTunes version, reading and listening via their computer (or mobile phone – Mobi and Audible work on those too).

This exciting initiative has been established by the Digital Business Development Team, who will now routinely convert all future Readers (about six a year) into ebook and audiobook versions.
